My two cents
Does Santa have a factory for gender-neutral toys? Let’s hope so …
We’ve been having nightly debates this week amidst the frenzy of holiday shopping, great retail results, and flurry of toy commercials - how “influential” are kids toys, or better yet, kids toys commercials, on what toys kids ‘actually’ like? Or on what toys kids ‘think’ they should like?
Next time you watch a toy commercial, take note of the distinct lack of any girls in the mad science, gooey experiments, or crime fighting video game commercials. And conversely, when was the last time you saw a toddler boy in any doll or stuffed animal commercials? Even if the stuffed animal is a roaring tiger or other savage beast.
It’s striking.
Advertisers, in many ways, have a bigger charge on their hands than they might really understand.

My running perspective on anything and everything going on in the news today -- I don't purport to be the best informed person in the world, but am curious to see if people have the same questions I do when they read the morning news. General interest areas are anything media, marketing, technology, or business related.
